Nevada Reads 2023 featured author GennaRose Nethercott brings her novel “Thistlefoot” to life with hand-crafted shadow panoramas and puppetry. Nethercott’s debut novel weaves Eastern European folklore with Jewish history in a tale about the ancestral hauntings that stalk us, and the uncanny power of story. Her first book, “The Lumberjack’s Dove,” was selected by Louise Glück as a winner of the National Poetry Series. Whether authoring novels, poems, ballads, or even fold-up paper cootie catchers, GennaRose’s projects are all rooted in myth — and what our stories reveal about who we are. She tours widely, performing strange tales (sometimes with puppets in tow), and researches/writes for the podcast “Lore.” She lives in the woodlands of Vermont, beside an old cemetery.
