The Henderson Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of Alexandra Arrieche, is slated to perform a free kid-friendly concert presenting Gregory Smith’s “The Orchestra Games” with meteorologist Nate Tannenbaum as narrator. “The Orchestra Games” uses the Olympics as a framework to help listeners get to know the instruments. Instead of countries competing, it’s strings, woodwinds and brass with percussion judging and the narrator officiating. The piece, introduced in 1995, goes beyond basic instrument descriptions and explores the capabilities and personalities of each instrument.
