Counter-Intelligence for the Manhattan Project and Beyond

April 28 at 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

$10 – $15

Dr. Vince Houghton’s lecture will focus on the intelligence and counterintelligence mission surrounding the American nuclear weapons program, from its early beginnings during the Manhattan Project, to advanced tools used during the Cold War by US intelligence agencies (like the National Security Agency) to keep watch on America’s adversaries—while also preventing them from stealing our nuclear secrets.

Dr. Houghton is the author of two books: Nuking the Moon: And Other Intelligence Plots and Military Schemes Left on the Drawing Board (Penguin, 2019); and The Nuclear Spies: America’s Atomic Intelligence Program Against Hitler and Stalin (Cornell University Press, 2019). His third book, on the city of Miami’s role in the Cold War, will be released in 2024.
