Tyler D. Parry, an associate professor of African American and African Diaspora Studies at UNLV, will share the history of the Juneteenth holiday and its broader importance within the United States. Using images and historical documentation, he examines its origins within Galveston, Texas, an island city on the Gulf Coast, and especially emphasises how the celebration eventually came Las Vegas.
