Kick off Juneteenth celebrations with a presentation titled “Hip Hop: The Voice of Freedom featuring the Legendary Kurtis Blow.” The panel discussion is set to feature a special edition of The Breakdown Powered by 88.1. Kurtis Blow, who was born Kurtis Walker in Harlem in 1959, was in on the earliest stages of hip-hop culture starting as a breakdancer, then block party and club DJ before he reportedly became the first rapper to sign with and release an album for a major label.
