The UNLV Division of Jazz and Commercial Music celebrates the 50th anniversary of its award-winning jazz ensemble program.
The ensemble, composed of UNLV alum from across the country and abroad, will perform a program of original compositions and arrangements by UNLV alumni, including Dennis Mackrel, who was part of the Count Basie Orchestra as a drummer and composer/arranger. Kenny Rampton, current member of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, also will be a featured trumpet soloist with the acclaimed UNLV Jazz Ensemble I, conducted by Dave Loeb and Nathan Tanouye.
