“Upstate” reception

“Upstate: Revisiting the Roadways of Upstate New York” is a photo documentary project that the artist began over 10 years ago and that she continues to work on each year when she returns to her home in Upstate New York.

The artist writes, “My work is about looking. First looking at what is seen, then either taking away the extraneous, combining images in sequence, or repeating images much like the mind’s eye does when we see something that has captured our attention. Much like the singer’s voice or the poet’s words, I use photographic images to construct my art. My desire is to incite the viewer to see the extraordinary and the marvelous in the ordinary.”

On exhibit at Sahara West Library from March 9 through May 20, 2023.
