West Las Vegas Library Anniversary Party

April 24 at 6:30 pm - 8:00 pm

Free

Celebrate 50 years of the West Las Vegas Library during a special 1973-themed event featuring live music performed by Vegas Groove. The first library established on the Historic Westside was located in a storefront on “D” Street to serve the families of African American Hoover Dam migrant workers. The women of Operation Life led the fight to bring books to this community in 1973. With the expansion of residents and the need for more space and services, the new library at the 951 West Lake Mead location was built in 1988. In 1995, due to protests and community pressure, an extension was built to provide a Performing Arts Theatre for the thriving community.
