Folias Duo — made up of flutist Carmen Maret and guitarist Andrew Bergeron — plans to present an intimate concert of soothing classical music. The couple has been collaborating more than two decades.
Accompanied by her accordion and toy piano, singer/songwriter Jessica Fichot draws from her French, Chinese, and American heritage to create a program of French chanson, 1940s Shanghai jazz, swing, and international folk. Featuring her own vocals in French, Mandarin Chinese, Spanish and English, Fichot’s music is world journey.
Composer and multi-instrumentalist Huu Bac Quach skillfully combines his Vietnamese and Chinese heritages with jazz music in an ensemble backed by some of the most prominent musicians on the Montreal jazz scene. The dan bau (Vietnamese monochord), the erhu (Chinese fiddle), the quena (Andean flute), and the jazz guitar combine to create a unique sound.
