🎸 Eric's Trip Oct 7-Nov 1: Classic Grunge, Indie Hip-Hop, and Singing Cowboys
Sometimes when I come up with those headlines it feels like I'm spinning a music genre slot machine. 🍒🔔🍊
Here's what's cool this month!
Local H
October 9: Have you or a loved one suffered damages by seeing the '90s become a chintzy Spirit of Halloween costume? If so, the remedy is simple: a dose of Local H's dynamic live show is sure to reinvigorate the aching seams of your grunge flannel.
Rooftop Raps
October 12: For Vegas musicians, the analogue of the hat trick in hockey is doing a show in all three sections of Taverna Costera. You can get started on achieving this accolade yourself by checking out Rooftop Raps, featuring red-hot, tempered-steel bars from Kevin Bessey, Truth, Big Kev, Pathogen, Jidiani, Jay Swolle, and Roi Lorange.
Taverna Costera. $10-15. 6:30 pm.
When We Were Young Side Shows
October 18: If you didn't get a ticket for When We Were Young or would rather not deal with the festival hassle, there are still a few sideshows you can check out to get your emo fix.
Ranger Roscoe Rides Again! (... again)
October 18-20: Due to popular demand, the Scoundrel of the Sage is presenting an encore presentation of RANGER ROSCOE RIDES AGAIN! This unique music and visual experience is a spin-off of the SOLD-OUT Supper Club event at Winnie & Ethel's. Hear the story of a young boy named Perceval Penn who escapes a troubled childhood to become... RANGER ROSCOE!
11th Street Records. Fri-Sat at 6 pm. Sun at 1 pm. Free.
The Crane Wives
October 24: Americana/folk band the Crane Wives bring a fresh rock 'n' roll sound to Brooklyn Bowl. Hopefully it'll be cold enough by then to wear that hipster knit cap again.
Brooklyn Bowl. Doors at 7 pm. $36.
Waitress
October 25: So, full disclosure... I don't know where this show is lol.
Okay, it's not hard to find out, you just have to DM the band. But it's definitely worth checking out. Waitress is a unique multi-genre band that's quickly blowing up. See them now so you too can confidently say at a party, "Yeah, I saw them in the back of an old Quizno's" while they're on the European leg of their world tour.
An Evening with The Neverenders: A Coheed and Cambria Tribute Experience
October 26: If you're a fan of emo, metal, or pop punk, you're in luck. Coheed and Cambria tribute The Neverenders will be performing the band's biggest hits. Get down to the sick riffs in your costume, but be sure to pick an outfit that doesn't need a mask.
Terror
November 1: LA Hardcore legend Terror comes to Vegas to give a serious endurance test the structural integrity of American Legion Hall Post 8.
