Vis a vis his exhibit “Jones Ranch, Egypt,” Holmes talks about his series of drawings that merge images of figures from the American West and depictions of African sculpture. In this way, Holmes depicts the often-obfuscated role that people of color have played in the development of western expansion, as well as the colossal act of theft that is the institutional African artifacts collection industry.
