Nevada Ballet Theatre plans to leap into the new year with “Concerto Barocco” with music by Johann Sebastian Bach and choreography by George Balanchine and “The Concert” (or “The Perils of Everybody”) with music by Frederic Chopin and choreography by Jerome Robbins. “Concerto Barocco,” set to Bach’s “Concerto in D Minor for Two Violins,” is one of Balanchine’s greatest ballets, often described as music made visible. Robbins’ “The Concert” is a comic send-up of an all-Chopin recital where a cast of quirky attendees allow their minds to wander, revealing their imaginative secret fantasies.
