Mixed-status families are front and center in national debates about undocumented immigration and American citizenship. Yet, members of mixed-status families, including adult-age Americans of undocumented parents, are rarely included in conversations about these heated debates.
Drawing on qualitative data with members of mixed-status families, “Contested Americans: Mixed-Status Families in Anti-Immigrant Times” examines how these Americans speak back to myths long perpetuated in the U.S. public and the ways they manage family responsibilities.
