This is a screening of the film Phantasm with a Q&A and book signing with director Don Coscarelli.
Teenage Mike follows his brother to a funeral, where Mike witnesses the Tall Man lifting a coffin on his own. Mike decides to investigate, and discovers a surreal, terrifying world – protected by deadly, flying silver balls. It is then up to Mike, his brother, and Reggie the ice cream man to stop the Tall man.
At only 23 years old, Don Coscarelli wrote, produced, directed, shot and edited his magnum opus — one that’s truly withstood the test of time, and has influenced many successive generations of filmmakers. Phantasm deftly mixes gothic horror, sci-fi, surrealism and a killer prog rock score together in a grief-ridden adolescent fever dream that horror fans have never stopped worshipping.
