In Poetry Arcade, a series of poets will read their work on stage at Core Contemporary Art Gallery. Much like an arcade, tokens can be purchased at Avantpop Bookstore that can then be used after hearing each reading. Patrons can select their favorite poets and give them tokens as a gift of gratitude, like poetry busking! Also, exchange tokens for a personal, recorded reading with a poet in the Avantpop Bookstore Podcast Room. At the end of the event, the poets redeem their tokens for cash.
The intent of Poetry Arcade is to highlight not only the talented poets that have been (and slated to be) published in the Avantpop Punk Poetry Antholozine, but also a number of talented poets throughout Las Vegas. It is also intended to give them an opportunity to be compensated for their words and for their performance.
This event is free, but rsvp is recommended and purchasing tokens encouraged.
