Red Rock Audubon Society Lectures

July 29 at 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm

Free

These are two lectures presented by Alex Harper of Red Rock Audubon Society. They are: Birds of the Mojave Desert: How Birds Move Through the Seasons, and The Urban Oasis: Creating and Maintaining Wildlife Habitat in a Desert City.

Birds of the Mojave Desert: The Mojave Desert is full of life, but where do you begin learning about how to find and appreciate some of the birds living here? In a slideshow presentation, Alex will help you to better find the birds in your neighborhood and your next road trip.

The Urban Oasis: In one of the hottest American cities, wildlife often find refuge among our irrigated lawns and parks. Alex will be talking with the audience about how we can create wildlife habitat in our communities and schools that adds value to the lives of animals and ourselves. This is a vision for living harmoniously with nature, using less water, providing shade, and paving a way for native plants to be easier to come by in a changing city.
