Will there be flying monkeys and the most wicked of witches? Yes, there will. And they’ll be joined by Dorothy in ruby red toe shoes and her elaborate little puppet dog, too. With music by Matthew Pierce and choreography by Septime Webre, the ballet “The Wizard of Oz” is set to bring the Emerald City to the Smith Center as the finale to Nevada Ballet Theatre’s 2022-23 Season. Webre, creator of the 2019 NBT performance of Alice (in Wonderland), has been obsessed with all things Oz since his childhood growing up near a house he was convinced looked just like Dorothy’s.
