🏚️ Haunted houses | Greek fest | Dog parties | Wild dance | Wurst cars | Zombie music
WANNA SEE SOMETHING really scary? No, not the feral kiddie-ravaged Halloween aisle at Target. The frights are coming from inside the newsletter: Murderous mazes and gothy garage sales are just a few of the goodies in store. Plus something called Skankfest. Cheers! – Andrew Kiraly 🤍

I'm in the Halloween spirit hella comparatively early this year, forcibly triggered by my fiancée's incurable but still adorable twin penchant for 1) seasonal decor, largely in the form of pillows and 2) Marshalls. 🏜️ Desert Gallery
In 1984, Belgian artist Albert Szukalski made an eerie Last Supper ghost sculpture in the middle of a desert Nevada nowhere. Art attracts art, and the lonely site near the ghost town of Rhyolite grew to become an improbable desert sculpture garden and, eventually, a must-visit open-air museum hosting iconic Nevada sculptures. Now all grown up as The Goldwell Open Air Museum, the art center celebrates its 40th anniversary Oct. 18-20 with a parade, poetry readings, and musical performances.
✍️ Novel Idea
Hopelessly stuck on your magisterial magnum opus because you can't find the time and space to write? Retreat to the mountain – Mt. Charleston, that is. The library branch up there hosts Creativity Chalet Sept. 27. This "Cozy Writer's Retreat on the Mountain" invites frustrated scribes and artists to come "DO THE WORK" (urgent all-caps theirs) in a quiet, focused setting. They even have hourglasses, faux candles, and writing prompts.
