Light entertainment: Boasting the world's largest Christmas light maze, Enchant Christmas opens Nov. 22 at the Las Vegas Ballpark. If the grim prospect of unwittingly re-enacting the final freezing-labyrinth scene of The Shining isn't quite your cup of cocoa, the illuminated attraction has other fun features, such as a shopping village, ice skating, and a blinky outdoor danceteria.

IT'S F1 RACE WEEK, and you know what that means: rage-inducing traffic snags and equally rage-inducing #f1brag posts from your suddenly super-annoying friends who scored tickets. But so what? You'll be too busy to notice with everything else that's popping, from Downtown music festivals to uptown seasonal attractions. Start your engines, and cheers! – Andrew Kiraly 🤍

🖥️
I recently finally upgraded my computer from the 2009 Lenovo that I'd bought off a pro League of Legends player for like $300 in like 2012. I muttered some lines of grateful eulogy to the desktop workhorse for its dozen years of stalwart service, and then asked myself: Uh, what exactly is the responsible way to dispose of an old-ass potato slug computer, anyway? I took it to the Blind Center of Nevada. In the back warehouse, they operate a hygienically slick chop shop where they nuke the drives, strip the parts, and resell it all in their very own Ebay store. Hella recommend! (Next up: That bag of old cell phones buried in my closet.)

🎅 Santanic Rituals

Hey ho! Here's a sackful of ways to mainline holly jollies as Xmas season shimmies down yr chimney. (Tip of the elfin tricorn to curator Ginger Meurer for the recs!)

🎭 RIP Levi Fackrell

The Vegas arts scene is mourning the death of Levi Fackrell, who in 2002 founded what would ultimately become Vegas Theatre Company. Back then, it was called Cockroach Theatre Company – an unusual name, to be sure, but one that reflected the restless, stubbornly insurgent energy of its numerous black-box productions that helped set a tonal template for serious theatre in Las Vegas. A celebration of life is scheduled for Nov. 24 at UNLV's Judy Bayley Theatre.

⏰ Five-Minute Lit Punch

If you enjoy the verbal charge of public literary readings but find your attention span hopelessly flagging at, oh, the six-minute mark, Expo Nov. 23 at The Writer's Block is for you: Readers get five minutes, no more. Which will prove an additional boon given that, woot (I guess?), I'll be one of the readers – an opening act to other formidable talents on the roster such as Black Mountain Institute's Colette LaBouff, Las Vegas Writes series editor Jarret Keene and The Writer's Block's own Drew Cohen. Come out, get a firehose faceful of words, and say hi!
