Rock and a hard place: With their 1980 album End of the Century, proto-punk icons The Ramones made a bid for mainstream success with a poppier sound by hiring famous producer Phil Spector. The catch: Spector is a controlling, volatile maniac. Four Chords and a Gun May 29-June 1 at Vegas Theatre Company takes aim at the explosive strife in the studio.

THIS WEEK'S LIST is literally music to your ears. But don't worry, we've got your other sensorial inputs covered, too. Between big-hearted park musicals, explosive cabaret funk shows, and a guy wrestling awe-inspiring songs from a ginormous pipe organ, you'll be cranking the fun overflow valve. Cheers! – Andrew Kiraly 🤍

Skin deep: One of the immutable laws of the universe, Rule 34 posits that if it exists, there is porn of it. This weekend, Las Vegas bears that out in fabulously freaky fashion as it hosts the AltStar Awards May 29-31, climaxing 🙄 in a big-bang prize night at Swan Dive. So, if you happen to see a gaggle of ski-masked, tattoo-dipped, scarecrow suicide grrls stalking DTLV, that's just someone's Rule 34 come to full, fleshy life.

🎭 Theatrical Release

A night at the thea-tah is about to get a lot weirder when Fallout Fringe Fest June 3-25 hits ground zero at various venues downtown. This extended spasm of shorter works – from mock motivational lecture Take Your Shot: Luigi Mangione to Trump-skewering word-stew Knives Knives Knives – leans toward the subversive and satirical, so reboot your conception of theater as a reserved arena of polite appreciation and prepare to howl. Meanwhile, honing its own experimental edge, Las Vegas Little Theatre puts on its Vegas Fringe Festival June 6-15.
