Hawaiian Flag Day History

The first Hawaiian Flag was commissioned by King Kamehameha the Great in 1816. The Flag has undergone many transformations over the past 200 years with the current design authorized to represent the State of Hawaii on land and sea on July 31 annually. Celebrate the flag with with a presentation on flag history, symbolism, colors, patterns, protocols with Hawaiian history author Patrick Ka’ano’i and members of Na Hula Hali’a Aloha Cultural Preservation Society. All are encouraged stay to watch the Na Hula Hali’a Aloha dancers perform the Christmas in July show at 2 p.m. in the Main Theater.
