Sadhya is a vegetarian feast from Kerala, South India where Chef Hemant Keshore is from. It’s usually served during celebratory occasions such as birthdays, weddings, the harvest festival called Onam and the Spring Festival (New Year in the Malayalam Calendar) called Vishu.
The Sadhya is typically served on a banana leaf and enjoyed by hand. (Utensils will be provided for this event) It consists of Matta Rice ( Red Rice thats highly nutritious), yellow lentil curry, ghee, pappadum and a bunch of side dishes simliar to “Banchan”. The meal is concluded with a serving of Payasam, which is similar to a rice pudding made with jaggery, coconut milk, cardamom, and rice flakes.
