In 1985, DEA agent Enrique “Kiki” Camarena was kidnapped, tortured and murdered by members of a Mexican drug cartel. For more than four years, Camarena had fearlessly pursued marijuana and cocaine traffickers, disrupting their operations and inching closer to exposing the leaders of a billion-dollar drug network. In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, Mika Camarena, widow of the slain agent, will describe the heartbreaking story of her husband’s disappearance and death, and the impact the tragedy had on their family and the war on drug traffickers.
