Clean getaway: Nobody really gives a flying fizz about the rules at Bubble Run June 28 at Las Vegas Motor Speedway – because basically, there aren't any. Show up to the 5k course, get on your marks, get set, and sprint gleefully through miles of suds.

FROM FRANTIC FOAM athletics to adult play dates to a party involving something called "gorelesque," here's what made The List this weekend. Cheers! – Andrew Kiraly 🤍

👯‍♀️ Friday June 27

  • This one kinda requires a pre-emptive micro-explainer: Las Vegas has a weird fixation with the Crazy Girls butt statue. Why? Because it's believed to emanate a particularly numinous isotope of our city's flamboyantly trashy mojo, which can be topically consumed by touching the dancers' taut brass glabrous cheeks. Long story short, the statue just got re-homed to Circa's Legacy Club and they're throwing a reveal (lol) party. 5p, Circa
  • Young playwright Elijah Young is quickly making a name for himself as the king of family cringe, and The Cold Buffet might be destined to be one of his classics, about a family get-together rife with generational tensions, simmering resentments, emotional compromises – but plenty of poignant humor, too. (Note Saturday show.) 7p, Clark County Library
  • It's not often that I say "wazowie!" – in fact, I've never said it in my life – but the word just kind of spontaneously gorked out of my throat upon finding this delightfully stacked sandwich of salacious lowbrow mayhem: Troma Party Tonight. It's a multimodal celebration of Double Down's TV Party Tonight and a screening of splattercore specialist Troma Film's newest flick, Sweet Meats. Bonus OMG: Toxie the Toxic Avenger will be carousing, too, in all his bulbous, suppurating glory. Event may also contain "gorelesque." 8p, Double Down Saloon
  • Play Dates aren't just for kids – we (in my case purported) grown-ups have gotta rip a little ludic mischief occasionally too. Play Date boasts games, vendor booth, DJs, and, of course, a mic awaiting your passionate karaoke-busting pipes. 9p, Ninja Karaoke
🗓️
My weekend plan: 1️⃣ Sneak by Cocktails & True Tales at The Composers Room for a dose of Old But Actually Not That Old Vegas stories 2️⃣ Gotta def return to Dark Sister for another Rosemary's Baby; it's like a root beer whiskey sour with a fragrant roast-it-yourself sprig 3️⃣ Just finished the striking, sobering On Tyranny and now, random, onto the hypnotically recursive The World Goes On by László Krasznahorkai 4️⃣ Catch a crop of community-fueled fun at the Obodo Fundraising Festival.

👩‍⚕️ Saturday June 28

  • As an aspiring future old person and recreational hypochondriac, I'm actually pretty good about regular doctor checkups and [makes perturbingly steady eye contact while slowly curling a dumbbell] keeping in shape. How about yourself? The free Men’s Health & Wellness Conference can help you kickstart a less-deathier lifestyle, with a focus on the roles played by lifestyle choices and family health history in your longevity. (Note social mixer on Friday.) 9a, Las Vegas City Hall
  • Discovery Day turns the Clark County Wetlands Park's Nature Center into a a fun and informational booth-a-palooza, with hella outdoorsy agencies sharing information, plus games and activities for the kids. Don't worry – it's all indoors. 10a, Clark County Wetlands Park
  • You've got two Spring Mountains-based cooling-off options this weekend. For family fun in the north, frolic with a full complement of games, music, and attractions at Mountain Fest (9a, Lee Canyon). Meanwhile, in the southern portion, halfway to Pahrump they're roasting a big-ass pig to biker music. 10a, Mountain Springs Saloon
  • The virtuosic Folias Duo is on summer tour, and I swear that their sweet, breezy, nimbly pensive flute-and-guitar sonatas have a verifiable cooling effect. (Note Friday and Sunday shows.) 3p, Sahara West Library

Decades in the making: Kikimora hails from Austin, but I strongly suspect that's cover for the real story: That this arrestingly mysterious, sultry, consummately assured cabaret soul-rock outfit somehow found a beaded-curtain wormhole straight from the '70s. Kikimora performs June 28 at Voodoo Brewing Co.

  • There are drag brunches, and then there are highly specific drag brunches that zoom in on and drill down into the catalogs Sabrina Carpenter and Chappell Roan. Hosted by the always admirably stylized vintage-style drag star Karen Beaches, Girly Pop Drag Brunch promises to be a mimosa supernova. (Note Saturday show too.) 10a, Ellis Island
  • Unpopular opinion/fight me: 'Zine-making should be part of the public education curriculum. Supporting data: I spent the latter half of my teen youth and ill-advised 20s making skate 'zines and punk 'zines, and look at me nowww! (Crickets.wav) This free, instructive and inspiring Zine Sesh is put on by the Co-Zi LV, the valley's unofficial cut 'n' paste publication authority. 11a, Enterprise Library
  • If there was ever a reason to forgo your ritual pre-Monday dread-tinged stream binge revenge bedtime procrastination sesh and instead stay up late on a school night for an entirely different reason, this is it: Familiar Faces, a pretty organically wild, funkadelic rock group with impressive natural chops. 10p, Sand Dollar Lounge
