FROM ROOFTOP wellness festivals to hush-hush comedy to bring-your-own-drum music jams, here's what made The List this weekend. Cheers! – Andrew Kiraly 🤍
🍣 Friday June 20
- Last call for cheap charitable eats as Restaurant Week winds down today. If you're utterly cowed into option paralysis by the cornucopia on offer, here's a scoop of some of my personal faves, only revved up by their sweet prix fixe offers: Ada's, Anima, Balla, Bar Boheme, China Mama, EDO, Lamaii, Partage, SoulBelly, Vetri, Wally's, and Winnie & Ethel's. Happy eating! Various times, participating restaurants
- I s'pooose I can let you in on at least part of the secret: Tonight's installment of the always reliably chuckle-inducing Don't Tell Comedy is ➔ 7p, Fergusons Downtown
- L.A. Witch is one of those rock bands that, to put it elegantly, nobody shouldn't not like. It's hooky, propulsive desert desperado music, tinged with auric noir and mystery, measuredly poppy, but also slightly evil. 8p, Swan Dive
- Congrats to The Bonfire on turning a year old. Proof that they're doing something right: Everyone's favorite local blues band The Moanin' Blacksnakes are leading the festivities with their notoriously searing, sweaty, whiskey-soaked blues. Leadman Scott Rhiner = legend and also guilelessly mega-nice dude. 9p, Bonfire
Also Friday ➤
I dare you to try not to dance when Las Vegas' Senegalese soul 'n' rhythm royalty King Ibu takes the throne at Clark County Library ✦ Talk about taste the rainbow: Rocklesque Pride: Studio 54 at The Composers Room is a draggy dishy disco mashup ✦ Ooh, as of my last click at 10:30 a.m. there are four two seats left for The Lon Bronson Band at Myron's ✦ Doubling down on my recommendation for ravin' retro outfit The Double Whammys at The Composers Room.
🔮 Saturday June 21
- One oft-overlooked facet of the Historic Westside is the rich art it offers. Today you can get a guided tour of the aesthetic treasures on this bus Art Crawl focusing on the contributions of Black artists past and present. 830a, Nevada Partners
- Qualified disclaimer: As a person-with-brain, sure, I'm a sKePtiC of most New Age loonery, but I also admit to admiring its obdurate and canny commitment to the persuasive placebo power of self-fictionalizing – I mean, you can be become an Angel & Ascended Master Channel in real life and not just D&D! SoulSearch is a two-day "high-frequency enlightenment expo" rife with healers, psychics, and crystal-wielders. Plus, it's free if you snag tix beforehand. (Through Sunday) 10a, Palace Station
- More practically on the health + wellness front, perched on a roof at Hughes Center, Wellness on the BlocQ boasts cold plunges, electrolyte boosts, somatic sessions, and expert panels. 4p, The Highline
- Caught Friendship last week at The Beverly. As a Tim Robinson fan, I found it ... actually kinda meh, pinpricked with awky laffs but never detonating into the dark, implosive cringe supernova I'd hoped for. For a real hefty weekend loading dose of #sadcringe (and who doesn't want that?), breathe in the miasma of that timelessly dreary portrait of stasis and delusion, Grey Gardens. 1p, The Beverly Theater
- Drape on that oversized cardigan and get dizzily mopey with this trio of notably aesthetically devoted tribute bands to Morrissey, The Cure, and Depeche Mode. Substance, btw, is the gothically minimalist mystery club in Neonopolis; make it a date night with a pregame dinner on the third floor at the surprisingly good Alebrijes by Chef Paco. (They serve, and I ate, grasshoppers.) 7p, Substance
- The volume gets cranked to 11 on East Fremont as Make Music Day hits the groove at Container Park, Fergusons Downtown, and The Usual Place with freeform jams, drum circles, silent discos and more. Better yet, bring your own instrument and join the band. 7p, East Fremont

🙏 Sunday June 22
- You've got it made in the palm-tree-proffered shade at The Makers Hive Market, featuring rollin' litmobile The Book Shelf. 4p, The District at Green Valley Ranch
- There's more than one way to get bent at Neon Namaste, a glow-in-the-dark stretch sesh livened up with DJ beats and a free drink. Pro tip: arrive early and spin up with one of HTH's neck-snapping Wide Awake West espresso martinis made with, yes this is real, salted caramel moonshine. 7p, Horse Trailer Hideout

Learn about the importance of preserving dark skies and understanding nocturnal ecology at Save the Night Star Party. Plus, plug that peeper on more than a dozen telescopes, including the latest addition, a Unistellar Evscope 2. 8p, Red Rock Canyon NCA Visitor Center
