Strings attacked: When Beckettian theater and Bunraku puppetry collide with the wacky world of pro wrestling, you get Kayfabe April 18-19 at Vegas Theatre Company. Keep your brain out of the splash zone, because when these string-slung slam stars smash the fourth wall, reality as you know it is down for the count.

FROM SECRET BASEMENT jazz parties to dog park bunny hops to grassy reggae festivals, here's what made The List this weekend. Cheers! – Andrew Kiraly 🤍

🎭 Friday April 18

  • The noxious miasma of despair, the pangs of regret and anger, the simmering, seething rage ... yeah, scrolling the news has never been so emotionally fraught. Remember when despair, regret, and rage were the quaint hallmarks of a good ol' Tennessee Williams eye-mister? Get a carthartic dose of explosive family feelz in his timeless classic The Glass Menagerie, opening tonight. 7p, Las Vegas Little Theatre
  • The Mob Museum knows how to put on an exhibit. A lesser-known fact: They also know how to put on a party. Whisper "lucky number seven" at the basement stairs for entrance to tonight's 7th Anniversary Party for The Underground, featuring gin-soaked live jazz, craft cocktails, and a high concentration of unironic fedoras. 7p, The Mob Museum
  • I love the electric light orchestra that is pinball. I'm also terrible at it. Once in a while, though, the reflex zen kicks into effect, I'm lighting ramps and blurring spinners, and I consider entering the Stern Army IFPA Pinball Tournament. 7p, Area 15
  • Further proving that adding drag queens makes anything better – brunch, children's story time, bingo – Bertha: Grateful Drag brings some vampy fab to the Grateful Dead's catalog, courtesy of this queer + allied contingent from East Nashville. (Note Saturday show too). 1130p, Brooklyn Bowl
🗓️
My weekend plan: 1️⃣ Interface with fellow DTLV humans at the Arts District Mixer April 18 and sneak a trawl thru Barter Beer + Mall 2️⃣ Catch a gothy buzz at Dark Sister 3️⃣ See what all the sensually clock-melting cuckoo is about re: References to Salvador Dalí Make Me Hot April 19 4️⃣ Continue plumbing Angela Long Chu's byzantine, brainy Authority 5️⃣ Binge a few more episodes of cannibal island soap mystery Yellowjackets (a watch inspired by a Chu essay).

Also Friday ➤

Catch some open-air (body) slam poetry when Graphouse hits Fergusons ✦ Post-hardcore legends Sparta shatter their acclaimed Porcelain at The Usual Place ✦ The holy trinity: Jesus, weed, and improv in Back From the Dead at Mom's Basement Theatre ✦ Wrestling-themed karaoke hosted by an actual wrestler at casual-crooner mecca Ellis Island.

🦆 Saturday April 19

  • What's better than a meditative morning idyll at your favorite water reclamation reservoir-turned-avian chill zone? A morning idyll with a legit bird expert on hand to answer your thorniest ornithological questions: Ask a Birder. 9a, Henderson Bird Viewing Preserve
  • Eat a pig in the mountains with bikers. Pro tip: make your exit carefully. 10a, Mountain Springs Saloon
  • Under the current national vibe reign of smashmouth cynicism and mocking vitriol, what's the point in celebrating Earth Day? It's a subversive act of hope that our future generation's grasp of science will entail more than shitposting climate-denial memes on whatever disfigured botch of a Boomer hellscape Facebook has morphed into. That's me sounding optimistic! 10a, Springs Preserve
  • "Shop 'til you drop" takes on new meaning at The End of the World Night Market, an apocalyptic hang featuring nervy pics with the Donnie Darko bunny, local makers, and the reliably eeeewww Auzzy Blood sticking metal in his face. 3p, Cemetery Pulp
  • Here's a secret about the not-really-so-secret-anymore Don't Tell Comedy: Tix are still available as I clackify this blurb. 7p, Fergusons Downtown

Circus cannabis maximus: Roll your own adventure at the 420 State Fair April 20. Held at Nuwu Cannabis – coincidentally, one of the valley's first public consumption lounges – this fair features all the standard carnival fun, from midway games to sky-high rides, with an herbal infusion.

🐰 Sunday April 20

  • Your uptown Easter brunch option: The caloric cavalcade – bread baskets, sushi, shrimp cocktail, carving stations, eggs benedict, French toast casserole! – of Easter Brunch at Emmitt’s Vegas. 10a, Fashion Show Mall
  • Your downtown Easter brunch option: The beat-drenched bacchanalia of mimosa towers and bottomless margarita pitchers of Easter Brunch at 18bin. It's one of those things you drive by, thrummed by the oontsa, and you're like, How can that be fun? But then you go once and then forever afterward you're like, If you know, you know. 10a, 18bin
  • Tbh, being tasked with painting "native Mojave Desert birds in flight" sounds like an invitation to artistic masochism, but this beginner/intermediate Watercolor for Adults class sounds forgiving enough – plus, how could you get frustrated amid the relax-a-riffic environs of The Las Vegas Wash? 11a, Wetlands Park

Also Sunday ➤

It's a very punk Easter at Red Dwarf with Portland's Old Cross ✦ Get an earful of pop-up poetry and acoustic jams at UnCommons in Tune ✦ The bunnies are hoppin' and the jazz is boppin' when Dave Damiani & Friends lay down some Easter Jazz at Vic's Las Vegas.
