FROM DOUBLE-TROUBLE comedy nights to art-museum classical concerts to drunk candle reality show watch parties, here's what made The List this weekend. Cheers! – Andrew Kiraly 🤍
🦇 Friday July 11
- At this full-moon Bat Walk, you can walk with the bats, and, yes, maybe even talk with them: Hike leaders are busting out a bat scanner so you can actually hear their freaky chittering alien squeak language that's eww kinda giving me goose bumps just typing about it. 7p, Clark County Wetlands Park
- Some vexatious person I knew back in the day who frequently found occasion to mention that he was in Mensa once busted out one of those annoying and simplistic "There are two kinds of people" bromides: "Jeopardy" people and "Wheel of Fortune" people. As a proud and lifelong mediocritan, I stood then with the Wheelers, and I stand with them now. Looks like tix for Wheel of Fortune Live! are still p_e_tif_l. 8p, Paris Theater
- Given my general stance of cagey, suspicious neutrality toward both country music and EDM, I'm thinking blending the two together in an event such as Boots 'N Beats can only help me make up my mind. 8p Bel-Aire Backyard
- They do every type, style, and thematically inflected species of improv at Mom's Basement Theatre, but I have a fondness for Sip, Zap, Zop for its simplicity: It's improv with booze. 930p, Mom's Basement Theatre

Don't sleep on musical rom-comedy The Pajama Game at Las Vegas Little Theatre ✦ My favorite wine bar Garagiste is doing a fun li'l 101 class called Winemaking Styles Uncorked ✦ Velvet Hoss, resident DJ at The Pinky Ring, seems to be sorta randomly taking over The Beverly Theater for a free gig?
👉 ICYMI, here's a sack o' baseballs, sneakers, puppets, and masked meatlords to fill out your weekend:

🎻 Saturday July 12
- As a rabid fan of vintage scores and thrift finds, I'm listing the Upscale Craft & Yard Sale on a lunge of good faith that they didn't just slap the word "upscale" on this event, as the kids say, "willy-nilly." 8a, Heritage Senior Facility
- Between the Desert Opus string quintet interpreting the work of OG Romantic melodicist Franz Schubert and multifariously magnificent work of Rita Deanin Abbey vibrating from the walls, I can't imagine a more artfully serene Saturday afternoon than Summer of Schubert. 2p, Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum
- If you've noticed that the typically exhaust-perfumed Vegas air has a sweet, humid, peanut-butter tinge to it, that's because we're four days into a five-day Elvis Tribute Festival, culminating in a no-doubt rhinestone-shotgunned "Elvis Tribute Artist World Championship Contest." 7p, Westgate
- Evidence such as the surging epidemic of Hoka trainers and TC Tuggers notwithstanding, Vegas does have style sense and a fashion scene. Catch The Fashion Show*Offs flaunting fits in front of judges for the chance to win, whoa, nice, $5,000. 8p, Gipsy

The World Karaoke Championship at The Composers Room has you covered as local bar belters sing for a shot at the KWC World Finals in Bangkok ✦ Tbh the life-size puppet version of Captain Hook looks terrifying in this string-strung rendition of Neverland ✦ Robin Slonina always features fresh and intriguing local artists at Second Saturday ✦ Shell yeah! An afternoon of Champagne & Oysters at Fontainebleau is just the type of bougie I could use right now ✦ Crystal bowls and lunar lushness create the chill factor at Cactus Joe's Full Moon Sound Bath Under the Stars.
🏝️ Sunday July 13
- I sorta passively whorled into watching "Love Island" during the pandemic and never really looked back. Yes, it's a strenuously insipid, flesh-flaunting romance reality show but, yes, it's also an often surprisingly tender and penetrating psych-lab experiment in which it's fascinating to watch contemptible dumb young people figure their shit out in real time and torturously level up into slightly less contemptible and dumb young people – on top of all of which is a whole 'nother meta layer of social media drama-frosting. Here are three notable watch parties happening around town: the splashy Stadium Swim's Night in the Villa (5p, Circa), a bring-your-own-iPad watch party (530p, Fergusons Downtown), and a wine-fueled finale-fest (5p, Velvet Vine) where you can also make drunken candles.
- Gotta applaud Sliced Pizza for its commitment to theme – and I'm not just talking about their infamous black crust. Every month on the 13th they do a dark 'n' murdery comedy night called, of course, Vegas Is Dead. 7p, Sliced Pizza
Also Sunday ➤
Did one guy named Donn Beach invent the tiki bar, the craft cocktail, and the whole concept of themed environments? Sip on the umbrella-garnished truth at The Donn of Tiki at The Beverly Theater ✦ Operatic rock riffs and neon-drenched mystique comprise the spectacle of Cam Girl at Red Dwarf ✦ Warrior II but do it in Tokyo, New York, and Barcelona: It's Yoga Flow Through the World at Illuminarium.
🙏 Hope you have the raddest weekend. Thanks for your support! – Andrew Kiraly 🤍
