Vat a country: A bloc of Soviet suds are on tap during Comrade Day Feb. 8 at CraftHaus Brewery. This release party for Comrade Russian Imperial Stout – packing a potent 11.2 percent ABV – is causing such a buzz that they've got three seatings to ensure every apparatchik can join the party.

FROM DARK BEER keggers to theatrical sibling spats to stylish garage sale fundraisers, here's what made The List this weekend. Cheers! – Andrew Kiraly 🤍

📯 Friday Feb 7

  • Whazzat phrase rearing its head recently, "Do not obey in advance"? Why settle for mere pre-emptive disobedience when you can dish a hearty, affirmative FU to the Musky Trump takeover at Recycled Propaganda's "Vandalism Is for Lovers," featuring a retrospective of the spicy agitprop work of InDecline, as well as a spotlight on organizations who can use your help fighting the good fight. 5p, Recycled Propaganda
  • So the venue for this Wine Tasting Party benefiting the Nevada chapter of the National Bleeding Disorders Foundation is called the Viva Las Vegas Event Center but I think it's actually a wedding chapel which makes this entire thing even more weirdly enticing maybe. Anyway, soak up the buzz afterwards with killer Thai at the terrifically underrated Ocha next door. 6p, Viva Vegas Event Center
  • Dark times call for dark beer, I guess? Based in unbelievably quaint Tallinn, Estonia, Põhjala Brewery specialized in thick, rich, dark Baltic porters, and The Silver Stamp got their hands on a keg for Põhjala Baltic Porter Day. 6p, The Silver Stamp
  • A Public Fit keeps the chewy theater coming with Sam Shephard's True West, a high-tension story about brothers Lee and Austin trying to complete a screenplay while stewing over creative differences, sibling rivalry, and personal beefs. Note there's a Saturday showing too. 7p, SST Studios
  • Punk meets polka when longtime Vegas goofcore jazz punx Tippy Elvis – fronted by super-funny, super-smart person Dayvid Figler, co-host of City Cast Las Vegas – come out of deep freeze for a reunion show. Omg, their throwback profile banner pic is priceless. 9p, Red Dwarf
  • Sure, one tried-and-true First Friday strategy is to leap into the mix early, scoop up eyefuls of art, and beat the food truck lines, but an alternate plan is to arrive late so you have plenty of energy left for what is often the real headline act: the utterly epic First Friday Freestyle Dance Battles that Ninja Karaoke throws down. 11p, Ninja Karaoke

🥂 Hella more weekend here, which may contain screamy football brunch mimosa mayhem:

🏈 Ultra Super Bowl list | Star party | Karaoke chorus | Art stretch | Low rider show | Dancesplosion | Violent luv
The coolest things to do in Las Vegas this week, ever.

🛍️ Saturday Feb 8

  • The Nevada Garden Club is going full Voltron on this one, uniting green thumbthusiasts from Henderson and Las Vegas for the Seed Swap and Plant Trade. If anyone has any tips on how to encourage a Zanzibar gem to shake off its insistent perpetual state of mocking stasis and grow or die or do something, hit me up! 10a, Lorenzi Park
  • Local vendors turn spring cleaning into California caring at this garage sale fundraiser for LA wildfire relief. Your treasure hunting helps rebuild lives. 11a, The Good Wolf
  • Not that I actually miss anything about the whole squeamish era of having to cocoon up in yr home during COVID 2020-21, but one blip of glimmering enjoyment was that I did get to DM a pretty rad D&D campaign over Zoom. The best part was when my players beat this evil undead wizard boss I'd invented but when they went to get his super-powerful magic crystal weapon as their prize someone rolled a 1 on a luck check and the magical crystal imploded lol. Here's a cool little community tabletop RPG convention happening, LegendCon, which includes Game On!, a nice intro to tabletop role-playing games by narrative designer Ashley Warren. 1030a, East Las Vegas Library
  • I never thought I'd type the phrase, "TikTok sound healer," but I suspect 2025 is gonna be full of crazy firsts. TikTok sound healer White Wolf Adea brings his handpan vibrations into real life for a mystical morning of sonic medicine and Reiki energy. BYO yoga mat for maximum transcendence. 11a, Area 15
  • Master yogi and herbalist Maureen Karaffa brings four decades of sun-moon wisdom to this art-fortified, beginner-friendly Hatha session. Stick around after to zen out in the museum galleries and gardens. 1p, Rita Deanin Abbey Art Museum
  • If you missed First Friday or just want a smaller dose of spirit-lifting art, Robin Slonina's Second Saturday Art Party is always a sure thing. Bonus: her impeccable taste as a gallerist and curator make every gaze the best bang-for-buck bet. 2p, Slonina ARTSpace
🚗

  • The Ahern's Super Beer fest turns pre-game day into a sudsy playground with local craft brews, stadium-inspired eats (hello, cheeseburger totchos), and a stein-holding competition for the admirably meaty of forearm. Plus your ticket gets you into Sunday's watch party, though your liver might need the day off. 1p, Ahern Hotel
  • You might say new slasher Heart Eyes is a date-night flick only in the most literal sense, but who am I to judge anyone's kinks if this is your kinda make-out material? Check out the new serial stabber with fun post-film gab from the smart 'n' funny crew at Piecing It Together Podcast. Oh, and here's the link to the trailer; peep the comments from gloating singletons who are like, welp, Heart Eyes only kills couples, so no worries for me! 6p, Downtown Cinemas
  • I'm recommending Jim & Andy's Vegas Bender show because I'm a fan of The Red Seduction's rootsy, gutsy, dancefloor psychedelia and because I'm a fan of the frenetic junk-drawer jazz of The All You Can Eat Orchestra but also because I'm a fan of the compellingly strange flyer. 7p, Taverna Costera

Paws for effect: Puppy Love Feb. 8 at Silverado Ranch Dog Park isn't just an adoption event that's sure to be all a-bark with unbearable canine cute-itude. There'll also be pet-friendly vendors, pet-themed arts and crafts, and vegan eats from Tacotarian (for humans).

▼ Saturday cont'd

  • Former Absinthe Green Fairy Melody Sweets brings her sultry songbook and burlesque flair to this Valentine's warm-up that stirs up Hollywood glamour with some modern spice. 730p, Myron's
  • Just to clarify: the redundantly named Fairchild Blues Tribute – a Tribute to the Blues Brothers is a tribute to an imaginary musical group from a cult comedy film based on an SNL skit, all of which suggests this might be strangely awesome. 8p, Santa Fe Station
  • The stalwart brainchild of longtime local theatre insurgent Ernest Hemmings, TSTMRKT has been pulsing in the Vegas underground for decades, skewering the shibboleths of mass culture with glee since 2002. The Super Mega Fun Reunion Special 2 (Sponsored by Ramco) promises to corral all its performers over the years for a night of manic sketch comedy set to an unstoppable audio track. If you ever wanted to meet all of Vegas' most vital weirdos, this is the place. (Yes, I'll be there.) 8p, Vegas Theatre Company
  • The Rouge Room gets dark and deep with Rouge Noir, a new late-night house music sanctuary where DJs spin in 360 degrees and Cointreau keeps the cocktails flowing. Should be a quality event – it's the brainchild of one of Vegas' brand-name promoters, Kirk Reed of We the Beat. 10p, Red Rock Resort Casino Spa

🧁 Sunday Feb 9

  • If you need a pancreas-seizing blast o' sugar to rocket you outta yr epidermis on Sunday morning – and who doesn't it? – Cinnaholic Henderson is celebrating seven years with a BOGO bonanza on their fully loaded cinnamon rolls. Double the glycemic shock, same sweet price. 830a, Cinnaholic
  • Sunday is gonna be a serious carb bomb as well at Cupid Chill, but these goodies are guilt-free. This pagan hang will feature vegan treats courtesy of The Cake Trap, which will be selling cupcakes, bento mirror cakes, V-Day brownies, and more. 1p, Sin Amor Studio

  • If you really, really wanna completely immure yourself into an hermetically sealed football-proof socio-cocoon on Sunday, there are few better ways to do it than by joining in the Collage Jam with fellow snippy art renegades. 4p, SPCKRFT

🙏 Hope you have the raddest weekend. Thanks for your support! – Andrew Kiraly 🤍
